Round Robin Update

It’s Fred (again!)

Thanks to all who responded to the possible new tournament format using a round-robin feed in process.  There may be some changes made for future tournaments + there are results from some recent National events.

Round Robin Feed-in

According to Larry Turville, he is willing to try using that concept in the upcoming doubles-only tournament being held at Sanchez-Casal (aka Naples Bath and Tennis) the week of January 8th.  And some other tournament directors may try it as well (if you know one, mention the concept).

National 75s/80s Clay

Once again, congratulations go out to Fred Drilling, who took home another Gold Ball for winning the 75 singles Championship.  And he teamed with Clive Kileef to just miss also taking the doubles, losing to Frank Hagelshaw and Steve Lunsford 6-4; 6-7(3); 7-6(2)

National Husband-Wife

Also coming home with trophies at the National Husband-Wife Indoor were Silver Ball winners Naples own Colleen and Don Keenan, losing to Sue and Mas Kimball in the 140 combined age Championship, played in Denver last week.

Longboat Key

At the end of this month Chuck Kinyon and I will be traveling north to Sarasota to play in our last 70s event (I move up next year; but Chuck has one more year to go).  This CAT II is a well-run event and worth the trip to play.

P.S. Why isn’t the ATP “Next Generation” tournament on TV???  It is streaming “live” on Amazon Prime.

Know someone who should read this?  Send them a link and if you are not on my “new posting alert email list” and want to be (I promise, no other uses of your email address!), just drop me a note at

My Book: if you’d like to get a copy of “Senior Tennis”, just click on the link on the upper right of this web page to go to, look at the list of places under “My Book” on the bar above, or ask me what clubs are carrying it!

  1. Hi George. Re your question – Why isn’t the ATP Next Gen Finals on TV?…

I’m watching it on the Tennis TV app (via Apple TV) live. This is a great app which is also compatible with amazon fireTV, ROKU, chromecast, and XBOXONE. For $99/yr you can watch just about every match played on the ATP Tour. It has replays, archived matches, classic matches. Great coverage and (pithy) commentary. Pure tennis!

Alan, that’s great, but most people will not see it. Thanks. George
