The Winner: SW Florida

When Joe McAleer and I entered to second tournament 70s doubles event this week at World Tennis , I had high hopes of meeting #2 seeded Don Long and (my sometimes doubles partner) Chuck Kinyon in the finals. Well, we may do that this afternoon… except it will be the CONSOLATION finals!

In the consolation 70s doubles semis yesterday, Joe McAleer played a team that we shouldn’t have lost more than a couple of games to… and we didn’t, winning 6-2, 6-0. In the other half of the bracket, Don Long and Chuck Kinyon (who got upset in their first match) won their match; but need to beat Naples players Dan Heine and Jack Moore today in order to face us at the end of the day (storms forecast for Sunday in Naples).

  1. Hi George……nice article on the SSGP event just completed this week at WTC.
just for the record re: Naples residents referred to above, Kirk Huey, Mark Duffy and Pat Bologna all are from Naples too and, therefore part of the Naples contingent. All three also played Colonial and will be playing at Naples Bath next week.

just an fyi ……….and thx for the nice comment on WTC volunteers. The community really gets involved.
