The Florida senior tournament tennis season starts next week, with a Cat II tournament at the Longboat Key Tennis Club (near Sarasota). I will be playing 70 singles and teaming with Dartmouth’s Chuck Kinyon in doubles.
But with a very large draw of 45 players in the 70s, neither Chuck nor I got any seed in singles – or in doubles. While I know we are not TOP players, you would have thought…
Here are the tops in the 65s and 70s:
Men’s 65 Singles
1. Turville, Larry
2. Mayotte, John
3. Beautyman, Michael
Men’s 70 Singles
1. Long, Donald
2. Jonsson, Evert
3. Barbic, Ivo
4. Bachmann, Joseph
So we have “something to prove.” My first singles match will be on Tuesday vs. a local player; but Chuck gets Hank Irvine in his first round match. For the full list of seeds and the match-ups, just click HERE.
“Senior Tennis” Over Goal
When I published “Senior Tennis” over the summer, I had no idea of how it would be received (or whether it would be worth the effort put into it); so my “goal” was to sell 100 copies by the end of the year. As of today, I am delighted that we are now just shy of 200 books being sold!
In addition to being available online at Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble, thanks to several tennis friends who helped, the book is also now on sale at seven locations…
• Barnes & Noble, Naples
• Pelican Marsh Tennis Club, Naples
• Sterling Oaks, Naples
• Harpers Point, Cincinnati
• Green Island Country Club, Georgia
• Swetka’s Tennis shop in California.
If you find any interest in your local club, please let me know and I will be glad to follow-up. For more information, here is Amazon link that will allow you to “Look inside” the book: HERE
Please let me know if you have any interest or questions.
