Score at Hand

How often do you forget what the point score is in a game? Or if there is no score-keeper on the net post, forget the game score? Well, here is a little device to solve that fading memory problem.

It is called Score At Hand and affixes to the throat of your tennis racquet. Invented by a blog reader in Hawaii, it sells through Amazon.com for $16.95 … but as a reader of ours, you can get it for half price + free shipping (nothing in it for me, but your peace of score-keeping mind).

To take advantage of this special offer to try Score At Hand, click HERE to go to the “contact/Special Offers” page; http://www.scoreathand.com/contact-us/

And put “George” in the subject line and then Christine will send you a separate invoice; so that you will get the special pricing of $8.25 and free shipping.

GREAT New Hampshire TENNIS

Yesterday was one of my most enjoyable doubles matches in a loooong time… Bob Wilkie and I teamed up vs. long-time New Hampshire friend B. Manning and young (45?) former teaching pro, Gary Roberts for a marathon, 2.5 hour, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 struggle (in 90 degree heat).

  1. here’s an interesting score keeping story. last week i was playing a doubles match at my club in new jersey (green valley rc). it was the hottest and most humid day of the year here. anyway, for some reason, i was really struggling and very tired. we were losing the first set 3-5, and we lost the set in the next game. i was exhausted (not sure why) and just couldn’t concentrate at all. so after the first set, i said to myself, suck it up a bit and concentrate more.
well, i did that and went up 3-0 in the 2nd set. at the changeover, i sat down, still struggling, and my partner says to me way to go, let’s close out this first set. i said, we lost the first set 3-6, my partner says to me no, the score is 6-5, we’re winning. apparently, we won the game i thought we lost and won the next two after that. we eventually won in a tiebreaker, but it was one strange experience. i didnt feel like i could take credit for winning the first set, because i was playing the second set.
do you think i need one of the scorekeeping devices?

Joe … And you are still in the 60s! Just wait. George
