National Silver Ball

There have been two big tournaments going on these last two weeks: the pros at Key Biscayne and the USTA National 70/75 Indoor Championships in Houston. And one of my friends won a silver ball!

New Hampshire hitting partner Nick Ourusoff teamed with Jim Curry of Waco, Texas in the 75 doubles to beat the #2 seeded team on the way to a fine, losing effort in the final 6-2; 2-6; 6-2 … and taking home a silver ball. Congrats to Nick!

In the 70s, Jimmy Parker continued his dominance winning both singles and doubles titles. While in the 75 singles, (4) Fred Farzanegan d. (1) Lester Sack, 7-5; 4-6; 7-6(5)

Key Biscayne: Even though I still do not like her as a person, Serena Williams is no doubt the best women’s player on the planet (best ever??). On the men’s side, Andy Murray and David Ferrer (two players who I DO like) had to win in three sets to get to today’s finals (11.30 am on CBS). I pick Murray in straight sets.

Davis Cup: The US team of Isner, Querry, and the Bryans will have a big challenge this coming weekend trying to take down Djokovic and the Serbs.
